[Immigration News] Misuse of Visa-Free Entry Program
Korean immigration
authorities have arrested two Chinese nationals who entered South Korea under a
visa-free group tour program through Incheon Port on January 1 but disappeared
from their tour group.
The individuals
admitted they came to South Korea to work illegally rather than for tourism.
One was apprehended in Seoul’s Guro District, and the other at Incheon
International Airport. Authorities plan to deport both and are investigating
potential involvement of brokers, emphasizing strict enforcement to prevent
abuse of the visa-free program.
Caution by Incorp
Foreign nationals
entering South Korea must obtain a visa that matches the purpose of their
stay.
Tourist visas
strictly prohibit employment or any profit-generating activities within
Korea.
Violations may result
in fines, deportation, and restrictions on future entry into the country.
